Counselor's Corner

Hello. My name is Krista King, and I am the School Counselor for all students at Clancy School.   I graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Elementary Education in 2005 and continued my education at Montana State University and graduated with a Master’s of Education in School Counseling in 2007.  I worked with Bozeman School District as a middle school counselor for a year and then worked as the elementary school counselor in Lolo for seven years.

My goal as the School Counselor is to help ensure students develop and achieve at their highest capacities academically, while learning to be their best personally/socially. I want to help students learn how to best help themselves: giving them tools to be successful in school, in their interactions with peers and the community  and the future endeavors. Along with the rest of the MBI team, I work diligently with the wonderful staff members here to ensure Clancy Elementary School is a wonderful place for kids to learn and grow.

Within the school system, I serve a variety of roles: I work with students individually and in small groups to address their academic, personal and social needs. I teach classroom guidance lessons based on the American School Counselor Associations (ASCA) mindsets and behaviors for student success.  I also work with students in peer mediation situations when conflicts arise. With the 8th grade students, I spend time with the transition to high school .

Please know I am available to discuss your students’ needs.   Please feel free to contact me anytime via telephone or email if there is anything I can do to enhance your child’s experience here at Clancy School.
